My First Reason for Learning English

これは、カリフォルニアに住むいとこが送ってくれたカードです。
一緒に子供たちの写真を入れてくれていたのでカードに貼りました。
英語を勉強したいと思った最初のきっかけはこの子供たちです。
新婚旅行でカリフォルニアに行った時に１５年ぶりくらいにいとこに会いました。
その時、彼女のご主人にはとても親切にしてもらいました。
残念だったのが、わたしが英語をしゃべれないのでご主人や子供たちとほとんど話しができなかったということです。
彼らと話したい！というのが最初のきっかけです。

This is a greeting card that my cousin,lives in California, sent me.
Her children's photos were with it. I put them on the card.
My first reason to learn English is them.
I met my cousin for the first time in about 15 years when we visit to California on our honeymoon.
At that time, her husband was very kind for us.
I didn't speak English well. I couldn't talk with them.
I was very desappointed.
To be able to talk with them is my first reason to lean English.

ヤンバルクイナ Gallirallus okinawae

Caruta展の絵札のために描いたヤンバルクイナです。

なぜヤンバルクイナを描いたのか。
寒いときに描いていたので、暖かい沖縄が恋しくなった。
美しいものが描きたかった。
自然は美しい！緑大好き。
母の故郷であるヤンバルになんとなく思いがある。

今回は丁寧に描くことと、色に気を遣って描いてみました。

This bird is "Yanbaru Kuina".
The bird lives only in northern Okinawa prifecture in Japan.
(People in Okinawa calls that area "Yanbaru")
I painted this for our group exhibit.

Why I painted this bird? Hmm..
I was craving warm weather(Okinawa is located most southern in Japan)
I wanted to paint something beautiful.
I love nature.
My mother was born and grew up in Yanbaru. So I have something I feel for there.

When I painted this, I took care for colors and painting detail carefuly.

I painted this with this video.
Have you heard of Okinawa?
That is nice place.

My Sketchbook

Hi! Everyone, Happy New Year!
I hope your good health and happiness in this year.

I send my sketchbook of The Sketchbook Project yesterday.
I drew about 30 pages.

I knew this project through kimi's blog.
She is my twitter friend(@kimikobashi).

These are some pages.

I'm enjoying this project very much.
Maybe I can't to see them(on web, I can) but my sketchbook will travel!
My artist name is "Juriko Kosaka".
My theme is "Face in the crowd".

twitterをきっかけに知ったThe Sketchbook Project。
エントリー後に届いたモレスキンの小さい無地のノートに描いて、送り返します。
そのスケッチブックは上記の場所に行きます。
オプション料金を払うとwebにアップしてくれるようなことが書いてありました。
自分は旅行して巡れないけど、少し旅行気分で楽しいです。
長期の旅行したい。。

母が送って来た実家の猫の写真を元に描きました。

This cat is named "flower" ("Hana" in Japanese)
My mother sent me a e-mail with a picture of this cat.
I painted this to see the picture.

また、話は変りますがこんなイベントがあったので参加することにしました。
11/15が締め切りです。

参加を申し込むとスケッチブックが送られてきて、描いたものを送り返し、それが米国内だけですが、いくつかの場所を移動するようです。
2万人くらい参加してるみたいです。
そんな沢山のなかでわたしの描いたもの手にとられることあるのかしら。
日本からだと送料込みで28ドルでした。
プラス20ドルでデジタル化してくれるようですが、こちらは申し込みませんでした。
1/15までに送り返さないといけません。
知ったのが最近だったのであまり時間がないですが、楽しみです！

I'm waiting for recieving my skecthbook.
About 20000 people signed up!
So many!
Sketchbooks will travel for some place in U.S.
I hope that someone would see mine.
I have to bring back my sketchbook by 1/15.
I'm looking for drawing my sketchbook.
